Amazing Trails & Adventures
Top of the Pines offers a truly memorable hiking and mountain biking experience. Our ultimate vision is to create a usable, functional venue and education center with a wide variety of year-round outdoor recreational pursuits for the region’s residents and visitors. Come hike and bike our trails today!
Hiking Trails
TOP offers seven kilometers of easy-to-moderate hiking trails that meander their way through meadows and mature ponderosa forests with beautiful glimpses of the Sneffels Range. The trail system is groomed for skate-skiing and classic flat-track skiing in the winter.
Mountain Bike Trail
TOP’s kid-friendly 1.5-mile mountain bike trail begins and ends at the the Top of the Pines pavilion. It follows an existing cross-country ski trail down to the bottom of the draw to the east of the pavilion and then separates to the left and gently climbs back up the other side of the draw. Once reaching the ridge top, the bike trail rejoins the ski trail as it loops back to the pavilion through ponderosa forest and scrub oak.
The trail was professionally designed by Sweet Single Track out of Ouray with financial support from the Ridgway-Ouray Community Council. It was specifically created with young families in mind. There are no logs, rocks or other obstacles in the trail bed, making it ideal for kids who are just learning to ride.
The loop is also suitable for visitors with disabilities who come to TOP through the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program, Wounded Warriors and other organizations.
